The Hottest (and Last) Summer Vacation Deals of the Century

Plan wisely, and you won't be fumbling for an answer come fall when someone asks how you spent the last summer vacation of the century.

Plan wisely, and you won't be fumbling for an answer come fall when someone asks how you spent the last summer vacation of the century. And with hotels and resorts throughout the world competing for Americans' vacation dollars, now is the time to plan a summer vacation worth talking about.

From Times Square in New York City to the venerable avenues of London,

hotels are offering summer packages, special rates, discounts and

incentives, many with a millennium connection.

At four hotels in London, Millennium Hotels and Resorts is offering "Warm Welcome Rates" that include English breakfast daily, VAT, and four nights for the price of three.
July 1 through September 7, 1999 the following properties are offering the special rates (in U.S. dollars): Millennium Britannia Mayfair, $250 per night; Millennium Chelsea Knightsbridge, $230 per night; Millennium Gloucester London, $225 per night; Millennium Bailey's London, $225 per night; and Copthorne Tara London, $199 per night. Each property is offering the fourth night free to guests who stay for three consecutive nights.

Every summer, millions of tourists pour into New York City. This year, more vacationers than ever will want to visit Times Square, where the eyes of the world will be focused on New Year's Eve.

Two hotels in the Times Square area, Millennium Broadway and The Premier, are offering summer packages and accommodations literally just steps away from "the Crossroads of the World."

Millennium Broadway, located on 44th Street just steps from Times Square, is offering a "Broadway Nights" package that includes Friday or Saturday night accommodations now through December 18, 1999, pre-theater dinner for two in Restaurant Charlotte, two tickets to a Broadway show, and brunch for two. Prices start at $595, and vary depending upon the show selected.

The Premier, also located on 44th Street in New York City, is offering its guests the chance to mix a stroll down memory lane with the essence of the city's sophistication. Through June 30, 1999, travelers can stay at the newly opened residential-style hotel for just $279 per night, and enjoy a Champagne Popsicle, the hotel's signature treat. The popsicles, which combine the world's most sophisticated beverage with an American favorite summertime treat, are served throughout the day in The Premier Lounge.

The Millenium Hilton, located across the street from the World Trade

Center, is offering guests a City Summer Weekend Rate of just $149 per

night on any Friday or Saturday night June 25 through September 6, 1999.

The rate includes accommodations in the Four Diamond hotel, which is

convenient to Downtown's cultural and shopping highlights, such as the

Native American Museum, Battery Park and South Street Seaport.

In Short Hills, NJ, the Hilton Short Hills and its Spa are cashing in on

childhood nostalgia to bring in grown-up guests with its "Five Diamond

Sleep-Away Camp."

Customized programs can include cooking classes with the hotel's

award-winning chefs, wine tastings or seminars, cigar dinners, spa and

salon services. A "camp counselor" helps groups plan personalized "camp"

experiences. "Camp fees" start at $375 per person for single occupancy or $655 double occupancy for a one-day camp beginning Friday night, for two to 12 people. Included are accommodations, dinner in the hotel's Five Diamond restaurant, The Dining Room, and choice of a Spa massage or body treatment.

At the Hilton East Brunswick and Towers in East Brunswick, NJ adults can

have the kind of fun they remember from childhood. A Great Adventure

Weekend Escape includes accommodations, continental breakfast for two,

complimentary use of the hotel fitness center and indoor pool, and two

adult passes to Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ. Prices start at $140 per room, per night, with additional park tickets available for the discounted price of $32. The package is available Friday through Sunday, May 1 through September 30, 1999.

There are plenty of options for those who prefer a slower-paced vacation. In Westchester County, NY, the Hiltons of Westchester are offering poolside getaways. A Cabana Club Getaway at the Hilton Tarrytown, Tarrytown, NY or a Lanai Room Getaway at the Hilton Rye Town, Rye Brook, NY, include poolside accommodations with private patios, full buffet breakfast, and unlimited use of the hotel's indoor and outdoor pools, exercise facilities, tennis and basketball courts.

Available June 1 through September 6, poolside getaways are $139 per night for Friday and Saturday nights consecutively, $169 for Saturday night only or $139 for Friday night only.
